Tennis Results:

Quite a few of our tennis academy boys have been in action lately.

Elliott Hopson in Year 7, played very well to win a Grade 5 County Tournament at Oxstalls on Saturday 9th February. Elliott is currently ranked Number 4 in Gloucestershire at Under 12 but should be moving higher on the back of this result.

Kris Smith in Year 11 has won 4 matches out of 4 in Grade 6 matchplay events at Cheltenham Ladies College the last 2 Sundays (3rd and 10th February) and Jordan Gleadell Burt in Year 10 has won 3 out of 4 in the same Grade 6 matchplay events.

Chris Cole (Year 9) recently represented Gloucestershire in an Under 14 County Match against Wiltshire.

Charlie Chapman in St. Mary's RC Primary School who is part of our Tennis Academy played at Number 2 for Gloucestershire Under 10's against Wiltshire on 3rd February and he won both matches. Charlie also won a 'Super G' tennis event at Oxstalls which is open to all kids under 10 from Hereford and Worcester, Gloucestershire, Avon and South Wales. Oliver Palmer who also accesses St Peter's Tennis Academy (he attends Twyning Primary, near Tewkesbury) and is a year younger than Charlie finished Runner-Up in the same event. These were exceptional performances from the 2 youngsters who have very bright futures.

Oliver Duffy in Year 12 will be jetting off to Jersey to compete for Gloucestershire in the Under 18 County Cup Competition - so good luck to him.

Netball

Recently our Years 8 and 9 Netball Teams have beaten Katherine Lady Berkeley school who seem to be getting a bad time at the hands of St Peter's lately!

Hockey Results:

Year 8 - have enjoyed taking a couple of notable scalps since Christmas and they firstly beat Whitecross school 2 - 1 and then Katherine Lady Berkeley School by 8 goals to 1.

Rugby

We beat Wellington College at Newbury (neutral) ground 12 - 10 in the last 16 of the Daily Mail Cup and we are waiting to find out when we will be playing the Quarter-Final. It has been postponed due to a dispute with the RFU so as yet there is no fixed date for the match.

In the Under 15 competition the Year 10 team put up a real fight against Wellington who are possibly the best team in the country at this age. They eventually went down 12-5 but put in a great performance.
